Spring getting started guide (Batch Service) throws SQLSyntaxErrorException: user lacks privilege or object not found: PEOPLE

Refering to the Spring guide http://ift.tt/1fXCTwx i think everything is clear and (abstract but) nicely described - Except that when i run the source i experience a BadSqlGrammarException noting a nested SQLSyntaxErrorException: user lacks privilege or object not found: PEOPLE

The guide tells me i would get all of the required HSQL-DB-regarding functionality by using @EnableBatchProcessing on my Batch-Configuration-Class.

Any suggestions what went wrong? (I will try it at home because maybe the company infrastructure is blocking something?)
