Apache tomcat 6, ant list doesnt show deployed application

im a complete newbie at using ant and tomcat. im following this guide in learning spring framework: http://docs.spring.io/docs/Spring-MVC-step-by-step/part1.html

ive followed everything but when i try to build and deploy(both shows BUILD SUCCESSFUL) my application, it doesn't show up when i call ant list. any idea why and how to fix this?
